So we’ve finally made it to September 2020! I wasn’t really sure we would-its been a crazy, surreal year. Pat yourself on the back because we’ve made it! We’ve made it through some real deep shit. Not saying EVERYTHING is over (virus) but I’m happy I can still be contributing to this blog…and hopefully you’re still reading it!
So that means one thing! Things to look forward to the rest of 2020! I’m talking music (albums) in this post-the biggest releases (to me) of the rest of 2020. I’ll keep it simple for you so you don’t have to go crazy! My most anticipated albums of the rest of 2020! Enjoy!
BIG SEAN “DETROIT 2”

It’s been about 3 years since the Sean Don released his last studio album, “I DECIDED.” One of my favorite Big Sean albums to date. This time around, Sean’s not here to miss around. A sequel to his 2012 mix tape “Detroit” Big Sean pulls all the energy of Detroit and brings with with him. Literally! The album is an ode to the Motor City with tons of guests “driving” alongside Sean such as Nipsey Hussle, (RIP) Post Malone, Travis Scott, Jhene Aiko, Eminem (fellow Detroit MC) and Stevie Wonder to name a few! With production from Hit-Boy, Sean and Kanye West. For me, this is definitely my most anticipated hip hop album of 2020 as of this post today. The two singles, “Deep Reverence” and “Harder Than My Demons.” Today is Big Sean’s day. Congrats to him and the city of Detroit.
OUT NOW ON DEF JAM RECORDINGS
MACHINE GUN KELLY “TICKETS TO MY DOWNFALL”

Machine Gun Kelly’s song, “Bloody Valentine” was released this Spring during the height of quarantine. I fell in love with the song instantly. It gave me some happiness and hope during a time when there wasn’t much of it. I’m a little bias to begin with because I love pop punk and MGK is bringing back that signature pop punk sound from the early 2000’s. Can’t freakin wait! Oh, did I mention the man, the myth, the legend Travis Barker plays drums on all the tracks and is executive producer? Well, I just did! It’s going to be a great Fall! Rock on🤘🤘
DUE SEPTEMBER 25 ON INTERSCOPE RECORDS
PUBLIC ENEMY “WHAT YOU GONNA DO WHEN THE GRID GOES DOWN”

It’s safe to say the world needs Public Enemy right about now. Everything seems to be burning down around us right now. We need a savior, can it be Public Enemy? Not only is the group returning for a new album but it’s their first album on Def Jam Records in over 20 years. Their first single ” State of The Union (STFU)” is a direct attack on Donald Trump. I’m ready to throw down. Are you?
OUT SEPTEMBER 25 ON DEF JAM RECORDS
BLACKPINK ‘THE ALBUM”

You may ask me what the hell am I thinking and my response would be to you is “you’re right”. But over time, I’ve tried to be as open minded about music as possible. That said, Blackpink has worked with some of the world’s biggest pop artists ranging from Lady Gaga to Duo Lipa and Selena Gomez is on the new album. The much anticipated Korean debut is set to hit shelves (err music streaming services) on October 2. “How You Like That” is the leadoff single which will get you amped for some Blackpink!
OUT OCTOBER 2 ON YG ENTERTAINMENT (INTERSCOPE RECORDS)
BEABADOOBEE “FAKE IT FLOWERS”

If there’s something I love, I’ll gradually start loving it even more. That includes indie music and Beatrice Laus aka beabadoobee is one of my new favorite indie artists that has graced the scene in a minute. I’ve read she makes lo-fi bedroom pop thats produced fans from the likes of the 1975 (beabadoobee is signed to Dirty Hit, The 1975’s label) and Taylor Swift. She’s got a calm air about her which I like a lot and I it’s music that I dig! Don’t let that fool you, however! Her new album “Fake it Flowers” has big guitars that sound like bricks cracking against your bedroom wall.
OUT OCTOBER 16 ON DIRTY HIT RECORDS
CHRIS STAPLETON “STARTING OVER”

Chris Stapleton is honestly one of the few country stars I can get on with. It’s not that I don’t like the genre, its more that I can never GET INTO the genre. There’s a difference there but luckily, I’m pretty stoked for his new album, “Starting Over” with his lead single, (you guessed it-titled “Starting Over.” An interesting tidbit about the recording-The Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell collaborate plus they cover John Fogerty and Guy Clark.
