My thoughts on PS5 (The Future of Gaming)

0

Yesterday was the day gamers all around the world were waiting for-The reveal of the Playstation 5 (PS5). It’s been around six years since Sony launched the Playstation 4 & many people (including myself) had been waiting for this day. The press conference dubbed “The Future of Gaming” was around an hour long and was kicked off by Sony’s CEO & President, Jim Ryan. After a short speech, we were treated to trailers and videos of 26 Playstation 5 games that will be released within the next few years. It was a beauty to take in and see where we are going with Sony’s new console!

To start off, I’ve been with Sony since the Playstation 2 days. It’s been a long time and I feel no other company has matched what Playstation has brought to gamers in terms of quality and the amount of A-list titles. So damn right, I’m excited! There were a few games that really looked great to me from the event. Here are a few of them..

Marvel’s Spider-Man:Miles Morales

Sequel to the PS4 exclusive with Miles Morales taking over the lead role of Spider-Man.

What I like about it

For one, its Spider man! What isn’t there to like? Two, I think it has good potential to have a solid story mixed in with action/fight sequences.

Release-Holiday 2020

Resident Evil 8: Village

What I like about it

As a longtime Resident Evil fan, I always have high hopes for new RE games. Especially the OG games (1,2, 3, Code Veronica). This new game steers toward what Capcom has done in more recent RE games-adding survival horror with more action based combat. The trailer looked badass! I’m hesitant but cautiously optimistic!

Release-2021

Ghostwire: Tokyo

What I like about it

Console Exclusive. Set in Tokyo, the game is made by Shinji Mikami. He has to be one of the greatest game producers/creators of all time. The game has a darker feel to it and it appears you play as a character killing off “dark forces”. What that exactly means I do not know. But the game looks creepy and I’m excited about it!

Release-2021

Pragmata

Capcom game that focuses on a spaceman protecting the world (and a little girl) from otherworldly forces and the character walking thorough desolate, futuristic streets. Looks like something Hideo Kojima would approve and concoct.

Release-Not for awhile (2022)

Stray

What I like about it

You play as a cat. Walking around a dystopian city during nighttime watching robots. Hell yea-I’m on board!

Release-2021

Those are just SOME of the games I’m stoked about! As far as the look of the console goes, I REALLY love it! I think white consoles usually look flashy and PS5 is no exception! It looks sleek, forward thinking and well, it looks like the future! I could get into specifics about the rig and graphical components but I’ll let the experts deal with that.

Overall, I was very impressed with what I saw from the Playstation 5 and I cannot wait to own one. My hunch why no price was given is because Sony is waiting for Microsoft to reveal their price for Xbox Series X. Only a matter of time before we know, tho! These next few months will be exciting but one thing I know is that..

Holiday 2020 & beyond will be for the gamers!
